Join our volunteer naturalist, Leann for a guided hike through Towner’s Woods. Learn about the Hopewell Mound, the history of Towner’s Woods, and more as you enjoy hiking through the park. Meet in the parking lot at Towner’s Woods at 3:00pm.
The path can be uneven – proper attire is required. Boots or hiking shoes are suggested, as well as long sleeve shirts, pants and tall socks.
Please note: There is a bridge out on Ravenna Rd.(access is blocked coming from Brady Lake Rd.),to access to Towner’s parking lot use Lake Rockwell to Ravenna Rd.
July 28, 8:30-9:30 a.m. – Portage Trail Walkers at Berlin Lake Trail (10228 State Route 224, Deerfield, OH 44411)
Join the Portage Trail Walkers for a 4.5 mile walk on the Berlin Lake Trail.
WALK: Flat trail, packed limestone. 4.5 miles

Join the Portage Trail Walkers for a hike along the PORTAGE Hike and Bike Trail starting at Towner’s Woods and going into Kent.
WALK: Rail trail. Paved Path. 2.5 Miles to Crain Ave., Kent
Note: Bridge out next to Park on Ravenna Road. If coming from Ravenna on Brady Lake Road, you must use Lake Rockwell Rd next to old Brady Lake School to get to Ravenna Road and make a right on Ravenna Road

WALK: Flat graded trail, packed limestone.
August 19, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Butterfly Hike at Towner’s Woods (2264 Ravenna Rd., Kent, OH 44240)

Judy Semroc and Larry Rosche of the Cleveland Natural History Museum will be your guides on this fun and informative hike on the Butterfly Trail at Towner’s Woods. Butterfly nets, ID booklets and catch boxes will be available for your use as we identify, count and record our butterfly and moth findings. All ages are welcome, dress for the weather and be prepared with sunscreen, brimmed hat and water-it will be hot with unshaded parts on the trail. Restrooms on site.
We understand not all guests will want to stay the whole time, please feel free to leave whenever you need to.
Length of hike-approx. 1.5 miles total, strollers ok on asphalt trail-Butterfly trail is a natural surface
Meet at Towner’s Woods parking lot, walk west on the PORTAGE Hike & Bike Trail to the Butterfly Trail and back
