Donor Opportunities
There are many ways that you can help to support the Portage Park District in our mission to conserve Portage County’s natural and cultural resources. Any contribution will make a difference and help us create a great park system and leave a natural legacy. As a charitable organization, most contributions are tax-deductible, please consult your tax and legal advisors for the latest information.
Please consider the following:
Cash Donations
The easiest way to make a gift is to write a check made payable to "Portage Park District Foundation". Cash donations may be designated for a specific project or they may be undesignated, in which case the funds will be available for the Park District’s most important needs.
Grants
The Portage Park District has been very successful in getting grants from foundations and government programs to acquire and develop parks and trails. If you know of grant opportunities that we could use, for example through your workplace, please let us know!
Planned Giving
The Park District is able to receive donations of cash, stocks, bonds and land in a variety of ways, including by bequest in a person’s will. Please contact the Executive Director and your advisors for more information.
Donations of Land
We have heard from many folks who love their land and want to see it preserved forever. There are a variety of conservation options for landowners. Please contact the Executive Director for more information.
Donations of "Stuff"
We’re pretty adept at scavenging for resources at the Park District. For instance, all of our office furniture is second-hand. Please review our "Wish List" below and give us a call if you have something you think we might be able to use.
Donations of Time
We can always use volunteers! Please see our Volunteer Opportunities section to learn about ways individuals and groups can help the Park District.
